World Sight Day 2017

ABB OPTICAL GROUP will be participating in the Optometry Giving Sight World Sight Day Challenge by donating a percentage of all DIGITAL EYE LAB sales for the month of October. ABB OPTICAL GROUP will also participate in a Twitterchat aimed at parents and eye care practitioners around the world, which will take place from noon–1:00 p.m. ET, and is hosted by Optometry Giving Sight. You can join the conversation on Twitter @givingsightorg by using #shareforsight.

The World Sight Day Challenge is the largest annual global fundraising campaign, coordinated by Optometry Giving Sight, to address avoidable blindness caused by uncorrected refractive error - the simple need for an eye exam and glasses. Donations go towards projects that not only provide eye exams and glasses, but also establish vision centers and train local eye care professionals in communities with little or no access to eye care services.

In recognition of recent natural disasters, this year’s programs will also provide eye care to people affected by the hurricanes in Florida, Puerto Rico and Texas and earthquake victims in Mexico.

World Sight Day is an annual day of awareness held on the second Thursday of October to focus global attention on blindness and vision impairment. It is coordinated by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) as part of the VISION 2020 Global Initiative. It is supported by eye health organizations around the world - including Optometry Giving Sight - and is included on the official World Health Organization (WHO) calendar.
